FAQs

“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

What can I expect from counselling?

A safe, healing, non-judgemental and confidential space in which you have the support of a trained professional to explore whatever is challenging you. Whether you want to tackle a specific problem such as low self-esteem, anxiety or neglect, or simply want to lead a more fulfilling life, counselling will help you gain a new perspective.

Who is counselling suitable for?

The simple answer is that counselling will benefit any adult willing to explore their personal difficulties. It’s a misconception that it is only for the intellectual and articulate – in fact, ‘thinking too much’ can actually be a hindrance, blocking feelings and emotions.

How will I benefit?

Each client has their own unique set of problems and issues but, whatever challenges I am helping my client face, my goal remains the same. I want my clients to come away feeling they have been heard, understood and skilfully helped to transform their lives.

Why can’t I just talk to a friend about my difficulties?

Talking to a sympathetic friend can be helpful but it is not the same as talking to a professional Counsellor/Therapist who, through their expertise and experience, can help you make changes in your life. Many clients have told me that their friends couldn’t possibly understand what they have gone through or fear burdening them with their difficulties. Others are reluctant to reveal often very personal problems to people within their social circle and prefer to talk to an empathetic and professional ‘outsider’ who is trained to effect change.

How much does it cost?

Each session costs £60. I will consider concessions to those in genuine financial need.

How long does a session last?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place weekly.

Do I have to commit to a minimum number of sessions?

Typically, an initial interview is followed by six weekly sessions. However, every client’s problems and circumstances are unique, which means there is no fixed timescale for treatment. Our work together can be short or long-term and reviewed at any time.

Where can I see you?

My practice is in Mill Hill, North London.

How soon can I see you?

Depending on my availability, it is usually possible to book an initial meeting within a few days of your enquiry.
